What is counselling?
Counselling gives people an opportunity to explore feelings, thoughts and experiences without fear of judgement. It offers a safe, validating and supportive space to make sense of what is going on in your life, and find ways of coping when things are difficult. It is a talking therapy although different methods (e.g. creative methods) may be used depending on someone's age, or preference. Speaking to a counsellor, away from home, school or work life can take away some of the pressure and can help someone make sense of what’s going on in their life and find ways of coping when things are difficult.

A bit from our counsellor Kim
As a counsellor I will work with you in a person-centred way, this means that the sessions will be yours to speak freely, in a safe and secure environment about whatever you may wish. I will not judge you; I will support you to enable you to move forward with your life in the way in which you choose.
We will work together to build a relationship of trust and honesty; this will be done at your pace. I am approachable and easy to talk to and will be available to listen and help you as you need in your sessions.
I am trained as an integrative counsellor which means that I will be able to draw upon theories that will ensure that you are receiving the right counselling for you, it’s not a one size fits all thing, and the sessions will work for you, and always be in your best interests.
As a result of us working together and building what is called a therapeutic alliance (or relationship), you will not only become empowered, enabling you to make the choices and change that you might want to make in your life, but you will also have a deeper understanding of who you are and the journey that has brought you to where you are now.
This whole process will be your therapeutic journey, we will share and work on this together to achieve the outcome that you desire.
Kim.
